Hackathon brought students together and fostered innovation

  • news

The hackathon held at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Banja Luka brought together students from different universities and study programmes, who developed innovative solutions and exchanged knowledge in a dynamic environment over the course of three days.

Students of the Chemistry Study Programme, Dajana Bulatović, Teodora Marjanac and Danijela Marić, actively participated in team activities during the hackathon, where, through collaboration with colleagues from various fields, they contributed to the development of creative and practical solutions. During the event, they had the opportunity to apply their knowledge, improve teamwork skills, and gain new experience in an multidisciplinary environment.

The event, held from March 27 to 29, 2026, in a hybrid format—both on-site at the Faculty of Agriculture and online—was organized within the framework of the “Erasmus+” TRUST project.

Participants worked on solving safety-related challenges simulated in a university setting, which contributed to the practical character of the hackathon.

As part of the hackathon programme, motivational lectures were held, and the Vice-Rector for Teaching, Student Affairs and Quality at the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Dr. Milica Balaban, delivered a lecture on laboratory safety and challenges in practice.

As highlighted by student Dajana Bulatović, participation in the hackathon was a valuable experience that enabled her to gain new knowledge through work in a multidisciplinary team, improve communication and collaboration skills, and approach problems from a different perspective.

In addition to the competitive aspect, the hackathon was marked by networking, social interaction, and the exchange of experiences. The ideas developed through multidisciplinary teamwork particularly highlight the importance of such activities in fostering innovation among young people.

The text and photographs were obtained from the official websites of the University of Banja Luka and the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Banja Luka.
