The project “An innovative approach to the BiFeO3 photovoltaic materials synthesis” is funded by the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society (Contract: 19 / 6-020 / 961-45 / 18). The project is planned to last for one year (from January 1, 2019 to January 1st 2020), but due to delays in the procurement of equipment, it has been extended for three months (until April 1st 2020). The extension of the project was approved by the Ministry (Decision: 19 / 6-020 / 961-45 / 18 of 27 November 2019). The project proposal was changed in terms of budget adjustment (approved by the Ministry) in such a way that the redistribution of money was done in order to spend more money on the purchase of equipment (mouflon furnace).

The project dealt directly with renewable energy sources (improvement of one photovoltaic material). Innovations in the synthesis of a given material have effects and are related to the protection of the environment from pollutants that are otherwise an integral part of classical methods of energy production (conversion). In a scientific sense, the project resulted in original scientific work and the development and application of a new method of synthesis.

The published scientific paper was automatically found in all scientific databases, which directly increased the visibility and impact of the University of Banja Luka. During the work on the project, the transfer (dissemination) of knowledge was achieved and connections with respectable researchers abroad were strengthened. The obtained results were published in a prestigious journal (Ceramics International – Impact factor 3.45 – Q1 in JCR). The completed project had a positive impact on the development of scientific research in RS, as follows:
Members of the project team: Dr. Sasa Zeljkovic, coordinator, Dr. Juan Nino (Dr. Juan Nino) from the University of Florida, Dr. Toni Ivas (Dr. Toni Ivas) from the EPFL Institute in Switzerland and Dr. Dijana Jelic. Associates Ivan Samelak, Sanja Pržulj and Gordana Ostojić as well as students Sunčica Sukur and Mladena Malinović also participated in the project. Dr. Sasa Zeljkovic is engaged in setting up and performing instrumental analyzes and experiments, project coordination and presentation of results. Gordana Ostojić was in charge of analyzing BET results. Dr. Diana Jelic was in charge of analyzing thermogravimetric data. Ivan Samelak worked on the synthesis of BiFeO3. Sanja Pržulj, Sunčica Sukur and Mladena Malinović worked on the synthesis and characterization of selected compounds, while Dr. Juan Nino and Dr. Toni Ivas took part by performing sophisticated material characterizations and consulting in various phases of the project
