Solana d.d. is a company with an exceptional tradition in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For 140 years, it has stood as a stable and forward-looking industrial enterprise, keeping pace with modern technological trends while continuously offering opportunities for professional growth and development to its staff. The Chemistry Study Program has maintained a warm and productive relationship with this respected industrial partner. In recent years, this cooperation has been reflected primarily through visits by students and academic staff to Solana’s production facilities and laboratories, as well as reciprocal visits by Solana’s personnel to our laboratories. Solana also participated as a speaker at the NanoPol2025 conference organized by the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, where it presented modern technologies aimed at safeguarding the health quality of salt, particularly in preventing the occurrence of metallic nanoparticles in its products. In addition, a joint application was successfully prepared and submitted under a recent call within Horizon Europe, focusing on the valorization of waste material generated in Solana’s production process.
At the initiative of the Chemistry Study Program, the Scientific-Teaching Council agreed to propose the signing of an official cooperation agreement. Solana honored us by accepting this proposal, and the agreement has now been formally signed, further strengthening the foundation for future joint large-scale research projects, as well as the Faculty’s support in the development of new products at Solana. The agreement, previously signed by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Goran Trbić, and Solana’s General Director, Bakir Smailagić, was ceremonially exchanged between Prof. Dr. Suzana Gotovac Atlagić of the Chemistry Study Program and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ema Obralić, Director of Solana’s Business Quality Sector. The occasion for the exchange of the agreement was especially fitting—a promotional event highlighting opportunities for scientific support through the Horizon Europe programme, organized at the initiative of the University of Tuzla Rectorate. At the event, Prof. Gotovac Atlagić presented the Faculty’s positive experiences gained through the support of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, with particular emphasis on the ongoing RM SLO Plus HUB project, through which cooperation with Solana has been significantly strengthened in recent months.
